Gibraltar Range National Park was formed in 1967 as part of the Important Bird Area (IBA). Forests here are historic breeding ground for endangered Rufous Scrub bird, Australian Logrunners, Green Catbirds, Pale- yellow Robins, Paradise Riflebirds and many other species of endemic birds.
