Belogorsk is a city (since 1926) in the Amur Region (Russia), the
administrative center of the urban district, the city of Belogorsk
and the Belogorsk District.

Belogorsk is a major transport hub of the
Trans-Siberian Railway. From Belogorsk to the south there is a
railway line to Blagoveshchensk, the administrative center of the
Amur Region.
By order of the Government of the Russian
Federation of July 29, 2014 No. 1398-r (as amended on 05/13/2016)
"On approval of the list of single-industry towns" was included in
the list of single-industry towns of the Russian Federation with the
risk of worsening the socio-economic situation. Excluded from this
list in 2020.
By the Decree of the Government of the Russian
Federation of August 21, 2015 No. 875, the territory of advanced
social and economic development "Belogorsk" was created within the
city boundaries.
Regional and federal highways conveniently
connect the city with the settlements of the Amur Region, as well as
with Yakutia, the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories (the
Chita-Khabarovsk highway - the federal highway P297 Amur; until
December 31, 2011 it was called M58).
The urban district of
Belogorsk also includes the village of Nizinnoye.
In the
south, the city of Belogorsk borders on the eponymous Belogorsk
district, in the north - on Seryshevsky.
The city is stretched along the left bank of the Tom River.
Multi-storey buildings of modern development are interspersed with old
one-story wooden houses. A small pine forest has been preserved in the
eastern part of Belogorsk.

Obelisk
dedicated to Komsomol members who died during the Great Patriotic War.
Made by sculptor Zarva Ivan Denisovich according to his own sketch in
1968.
Monument on the grave of those who died during the Japanese
occupation of 1919-1920.
Monument to 312 fighters who died for the
power of the Soviets.
The monument-chapel was opened on May 9, 1995
to the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The monument to the
Amur rotan was opened in 2010, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary
of Belogorsk. Made according to the sketch of a student of the gymnasium

The
monument to "polite people" (a Russian soldier in Crimea) was opened in
2015. The monument was based on a photograph by a TASS photographer,
which depicts a special forces soldier passing a kitten to a child.
In January 2017, there were 11 cultural institutions in Belogorsk. 38
amateur creative teams work in club-type institutions, 16 amateur teams
work in cultural institutions.
There are three libraries in the
Department of Culture. Library funds, as of January 1, 2017, totaled
92,837 copies.
There are two parks in Belogorsk: the city park of
culture and recreation created in 1939 and the park of the Amurselmash
microdistrict, which appeared in the middle of the 20th century.
Amusement attractions operate in the city park of culture and recreation
Belogorsk Museum of Local Lore N. G. Elcheninova has been leading
her history since 1953. On the basis of the museum of school No. 3 in
Kuibyshevka-Vostochnaya, the school geographical society "Globus" was
formed, which laid the foundation for the creation of the museum. In
1960, the founder of the museum N. G. Yelcheninov, the exhibits were
transferred to the city to create a museum. The opening of the museum
took place on October 17, 1961 in the building of the house of pioneers
and schoolchildren. In 1982, the museum moved to a new building on the
street. Kirov 117/1, where it is currently located. Museum collections
and collections include more than 25,000 items.
The Soyuz social
and cultural association was founded in 1989 in the building of the
former military registration and enlistment office. In 2011, the
institution received autonomous status, in 2017 it moved to a new
building and received the name: cultural development center. It has 28
teams and club associations. The building is equipped with modern stage
equipment, allowing organizing various cultural and entertainment
events.
In the microdistrict Amurselmash there is a house of
culture, counting its history from 1947.
The School of Arts began
its existence in 1959 in the status of music school No. 1. Since
September 1, 2011, it has been working in a new building. About 500
children study in five departments: musical, theatrical, visual,
choreographic art and pop vocal.
The city received its modern name in 1957 after the name of the White Mountain.
Belogorsk is located in the Far East of Russia, on the Zeya-Bureya Plain, in the southern part of the Amur Region. The city stands on the left bank of the Tom River (left tributary of the Zeya), in the lower reaches, 50 km from its mouth. The distance from Belogorsk to the regional center Blagoveshchensk is 120 km.
Belogorsk is located in the time zone designated by the international standard as Yakutsk Time (YAKT). The offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is +10:00 (YAKT, daylight saving time). The offset relative to Moscow time (MSK) is +6:00 hours. This is the official time in the Amur region, the Trans-Baikal Territory and the western part of Yakutia, including Yakutsk.
A sharply continental climate with monsoon features, which is
expressed in large annual (45 ... 50 °) and daily (up to 20 °)
fluctuations in air temperatures and a sharp predominance of summer
precipitation. Summers are hot, rainy, but with a significant amount of
sunshine. Winter is cold, dry, with thin snow cover.

Base
The first settlement on the site of the city
of Belogorsk - the village of Aleksandrovskoye - was founded in 1860
by settlers from the Perm and Vyatka provinces. The village of
Aleksandrovskoe was located on the left bank of the Tom River, 126
versts from the city of Blagoveshchensk. In 1893, the village of
Bochkarevka was founded in the neighborhood, on a tributary of the
Tom River. Near the village of Aleksandrovskoye, during the
construction of the Amur railway, the Bochkarevo railway station was
built. In 1926, the merged village of Aleksandrovskoye and the
railway station Bochkarevo were transformed into the city of
Aleksandrovsk. In 1931 the city of Aleksandrovsk was renamed into
the city of Krasnopartizansk. In 1935 the city of Krasnopartizansk
was renamed into the city of Kuibyshevka-Vostochnaya. In 1957 the
city of Kuibyshevka-Vostochnaya was renamed into the city of
Belogorsk.

in the most developed part of the Amur region, where the administrative
districts are mainly agricultural specialization. The immediate

resources of the city of Belogorsk are represented by building materials
(brick clay) and fresh groundwater. On the southern outskirts there are
two sites of explored deposits of brick-tile clays, which are a state
reserve (Kuibyshevskoye II).

Belogorsk is a major transport hub of the Far East, located at the
intersection of the Trans-Siberian Railway, the Amur federal highway,
and the Belogorsk-Blagoveshchensk regional highway. The Ukrainka air
base is located 26 km north of the city.
The advantage of the
transport and geographical location of Belogorsk was realized in the
creation of the Belogorsk ASEZ, which, in turn, made the city attractive
for investment.
