“Monument to fellow countrymen who died during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)” is a memorial complex dedicated to the memory of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War in the city of Nyurba, Nyurba ulus, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). A historical and cultural monument of regional significance.

After the victorious end of the Great Patriotic War, the first monuments and memorials dedicated to the fallen soldiers began to be actively erected in the cities and villages of the Republic of Yakutia. The monument to fellow countrymen was erected in the very center of the city of Nyurba, Nyurba ulus, in the park of culture and recreation, in 1966. The author of the monument project was the sculptor Nikolai Dmitrievich Amydaev, a member of the Union of Artists of the Soviet Union since 1977.

In the 21st century, this iconic place for city residents began to be constantly replenished with new architectural objects. The following appeared in the park: in 2015 - the Memory Bell “Aar Sudu Khobo” and a monument dedicated to the chairmen of collective farms in the region; in 2019 - bust and. V. Stalin, in 2020 - a monument dedicated to F. S. Donskoy and the Colosseum dedicated to home front workers.

According to archival information and documents, during the Great Patriotic War, 2,697 people were drafted from the Nyurba region to the front. 1,152 people died heroically and went missing on the battlefields. More than 900 people were awarded military orders and medals. For his courage and heroism, the battalion commander, Major Nikolai Nikolaevich Chusovsky, was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Description of the monument
On September 2, 1966, a monument to fellow countrymen who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 was unveiled in a solemn ceremony. It was a three-meter reinforced concrete pedestal on four reinforced concrete piles with a depression in the ground and a 3-meter-high figure of a soldier. Later, in 2010, in the background, an ensemble of slabs with the names of participants of the Great Patriotic War from the Nyurbinsky ulus was built from concrete. Public organizations of the Amakinsky expedition, the Nyurba air unit, and the youth of the city of Nyurba took an active part in the construction of the monument.

The monument is a large frontal composition, the central figure of which is the monument-sculpture “Yakut soldier Nikolai Nikolaevich Chusovskoy - participant in the Great Patriotic War.” At the foot is the Eternal Flame. Behind the monument was erected an angular stele, the upper part of which was beveled. On the right and left there are 8 memorial stands on which duralumin plates are placed with the names of fallen soldiers and participants in the war. The sculpture “Yakut Soldier” is painted silver, the pedestal is white. The monument area is lined with paving slabs and decorated with flower beds.

In accordance with the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic “On the state and measures to improve the protection of historical and cultural monuments of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic” No. 484 of December 31, 1976, the monument was included in the register of cultural heritage sites of the peoples of the Russian Federation and is protected by the state.

After the end of the Great Patriotic War, the first monuments and memorials dedicated to fallen soldiers began to be actively erected in the cities and villages of the Republic of Yakutia. In the city of Nyurbe, after the death of a native of these places, Nikolai Nikolaevich Chusovsky, a bust monument was erected on Stepan Vasilyev Street in 2005.

Story
Nikolai Chusovskoy was born in the village of Aleksandrovka, Nyurba ulus. In the Red Army since 1928. From February 25, 1944 he was at the front. Battalion commander of the 172nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the 57th Guards Rifle Division of the 8th Guards Army of the 1st Belorussian Front, guard captain.

He distinguished himself on April 18, 1945 during the advance of the Soviet Army towards Berlin. Thanks to his courage and determination, the unit under his command disarmed the enemy and captured ammunition storage areas. He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on May 31, 1945. After the war he returned to peaceful life. Died July 26, 1977.

Description of the monument
The bust of N. N. Chusovsky is made of bronze. The pedestal is made of concrete, rectangular in shape, lined with granite slabs. On the pedestal there is a memorial plaque made of a metal sheet with the inscription: “Guard Major, Hero of the Soviet Union N. N. Chusovskaya (05/10/1910-07/26/1977).” The concrete base of the monument is square in shape. The foundation of the monument is also made of concrete.

The area around the monument has been landscaped, flower beds have been laid out, and flowerbeds have been installed. The entire perimeter is fenced with a metal fence.

In 2017, on the basis of the Order of the Department of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for the protection of cultural heritage objects “On the inclusion of the identified cultural heritage object “Monument-bust to the Hero of the Soviet Union N. N. Chusovsky” in the unified state register of cultural heritage objects (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation as an object of cultural heritage of regional significance,” was included in the unified state register of cultural heritage objects (historical and cultural monuments) of the peoples of the Russian Federation and placed under state protection.

 

Etymology

The name comes from the name of the Evenk clan Nyurmagan - “having arrows”.

Nyurba is located on the left bank of the Vilyuya River, 812 km from Yakutsk. The average height above sea level is 119 m.

Infrastructure

At present, Nyurba is a kind of regional center of the Vilyui districts and is being transformed thanks to the fulfillment of the social obligations of ALROSA.

The largest taxpayer of the republic after ALROSA, ALROSA-Nyurba, is based in Nyurba. Nyurba is also home to the Vilyuyavtodor OJSC, a road company covering all three Vilyuysky uluses.

The basis of the city's economy is formed by local industry enterprises - the production of building materials, food enterprises, light industry enterprises and others.

The Vilyuy federal highway passes through the city. There is an airport and a river pier. There is a drama theatre.

The city has a full-fledged 3D cinema, with world premieres. Functioning since March 21, 2013.
